White Water Rafting!
If you can swim (not so necessary
actually, but you shouldn’t mind getting wet!) and if your heart is
strong enough, if you are not pregnant :) or have asthma, we suggest
a White Water Rafting tour on the Dalaman River, which is only 90
minutes from Fethiye. |
 |
|
|
Don't miss this tour, if you want to fight with
the strong bubbles, paddling down the river (sometimes you will be
falling and capsizing!). The distance is 12 km. Lunch is given on
the shore, approximately midway. If you are brave enough, you’ll
choose the inflatable kayaks for two, and if you are not, you'll
travel on a big raft with a guide. The tour is completely safe: no
one has gotten injured yet! Don't forget to smile to the cameras on
the hardest rapids, wearing your helmet, a life jacket, and waving
with the paddles in your hands! |

Jeep
Safari
If our activity above didn't
break you into enough of a sweat, we’d like to suggest a Jeep Safari
Tour for you in Fethiye. Some examples of the things that you may
face during the tour are; a flat tire, getting stuck in the mud, the
engine stopping while passing a river, etc... A |
 |
|
pproximately 20 jeeps will be in your convoy, and the speed limit is
70 km/h. To make you feel safe, there are driver-guides and
first-aid staffs in the convoy. One will be leading the tour, the
second will be at the end, and the rest of them will be in the
convoy in separate places. I don't want to tell you the route, since
it should be a surprise for you. After all, this is a real adventure
tour! |

Scuba Diving
If you can swim and want to discover the depths of the cleanest part
of the Mediterranean, you can join the scuba diving tours in Fethiye,
which will take you to the magical depths with a fully-licensed and
experienced staff (BSAC, CMAS, PADI, DIWA, SSI, IDC courses
available!). During this tour, -if you are lucky- you have the
chance to see dolphins and even sea turtles. But the common thing is
to hand-feed the fish! While doing all these, don't forget to smile
at the cameras taking your pictures! What a great feeling to see the
Mediterranean and the historical wealth of Fethiye under water! |

Paragliding
If we couldn't get you
interested in Fethiye so far, if you are getting bored, if just
visiting places doesn't satisfy you, and if you feel adventurous,
you can go to Olüdeniz for a Paragliding experience! After climbing
Mount Babadag (1400-1700m.) with a jeep, you'll prepare for the
flight, which will take about 30-45 minutes. The qualified staff and
the pilots will take good care of you and a pilot will be with you
as you fly the parachute. You don't have to be experienced, just
enjoy the scenery and take photos of the unbelievable beauty and
charm of world famous Olüdeniz Beach and Lagoon. Eventually, you
will land on the white sand of Olüdeniz Beach. You'll probably have
lived your life’s most unforgettable experience. Olüdeniz will charm
you with its magic... (If you are lucky, you'll be here during the
international sky contests!) |

Dalyan Mud Baths – Caunos Ancient City – Dalyan River – Iztuzu
Beaches
You can spend another day in
Dalyan, which is about 1 hour from Fethiye. It is near the pretty
Dalyan River (the ancient Calbis River), which connects the Köycegiz
lake to the sea. Most of the people don't know the name of Dalyan,
even if they come to Fethiye for their holiday. But Dalyan has a
very pleasant atmosphere with its ancient and natural beauty. As
soon as you reach Dalyan, don't waste any time: bargain with one of
the local fisher boat captains to take you to places to see. First
stop is the mud-bath, which is said to be very healthy for your skin
because of its minerals and elements like Calcium, Magnesium and
Sulphure. It will take only 10 minutes from Dalyan by boat, which
will take you there through the marvelous landscape of the ancient
Calbis River. After that, you can go back to the town center and
have a nice lunch including the famous fish caught in the Dalyan
River. After lunch, you ask your shipper to take you to the Iztuzu
Beach (The Turtle Beach): after a 30 minutes boat trip among plants,
birds (and maybe those turtles) of the famous Dalyan river, I am
sure you will be impressed. This beach is one of the rarest beaches
in the world, where the Marine Turtles come and nest. Because of
this, the beach is seriously protected by the Turkish Association of
Protection of Natural Life. As you reach the beach, please obey the
rules written on big signs, to protect the Sea Turtles from dying.
On one side of this beach you’ll find the fresh water of the river,
and the on the other side the salt water of the sea. So you can
decide where to swim as you enter the beach. Or you can go for a
long walk on the sands on Iztuzu beach to forget all your troubles
and relax. After (or before) the beach, you can also visit the
ancient city of Caunos on the way back to Dalyan town center. The
places to see on this hill (10 minutes walk) are the Ancient
Theatre, the Roman Bath, the Temple of Apollon, and the Acropolis up
on the hill. Also the Carian Rock Tombs, which welcome you as you
enter the town are really amazing. |
 |
Saklikent
A different place to see
around the Fethiye area is Saklikent. We advise you to leave in the
morning, since the roads can become really bad because of the sun
above, and you might transpire as you never did before! Saklikent is
a huge valley containing a canyon of 14 km wide and 200 m. deep. It
is unbelievably high and narrow between two mountains. You'll have
to walk through ice-cold waters to get to the other side of the
river, if you want to see the beauty inside the canyon. |
 |
|
You can also drink this water if you’d
like, because it is a very natural cold spring, originating from the
same place you walk through! It is so cold that you feel as if
losing your feet inside the river, even in summer time. This place
was discovered about 15 years ago by a goat shepherd and he rented
the place from the government for 49 years. Now he runs a
cafe-restaurant in Saklikent. On the way back to Fethiye, you can
have a small break to taste the home-made pancakes of the local
villagers with Ayran (a mixture of yoghurt, cold water and salt),
and experience the Turkish village life. When you are leaving, do
not forget to leave a small tip for the children making you
comfortable in their houses, because they really show the warmest
hospitality you may ever see. |
