The Rumeli fortress is one of the most important monuments of
the Middle Ages and one of its kind in the world. It was build
at the orders of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror in only 4 months in
1452 for the control and protection of the Bosphorus at the time
of the conquest of Constantinople
